It's taken nearly 6 weeks from departing New Zealand to actually get underway on the boat, but perhaps that is all part of the adventure. Unfortunately just after we arrived in Pont de Vaux we had some news that my had father passed away. So I returned to New Zealand and Amanda stayed with the boat. The funeral was a nice one -if there is such a thing - overseen by Rob and Pat, who did all the hard work, found pictures, chose music, wrote eulogy, ...

... We walked up the side of the Montagne de Beaune and had a great view of Beaune and the grapes. When we got back to the park, Dad, Ben and Jon got to row a boat on the pond. On the pond, we saw ducks, a crane and fish. It was a bit hard to row because there was so much pond weed. Ben tried to lift an oar and it was very heavy. After the row, it was time for ice cream and fairy floss. Jon ...

    Make and mend

... On the way into town, T caught her arm on a twig and having thin skin, tore a strip off. When we got to the bar, she asked the barman if he had any dressings (all in mime with no French), he immediately stopped serving the other customers and rushed out, presumably to a pharmacy. He then came back with spray dressing and tape and dressed her wound as I continued to talk to Jenny. What service and he wouldn't accept ...

... to the Abbey of Cluney. Do you remember as we approached 2000 that some thought the world would end? Apparently this was nothing compared to the European fear as the year 1000 approached. When the apocalypse did NOT occur, the people built 1,000 churches in Burgundy, 250 of which are still standing...we saw about 25. Castles built between the 13th and 18th century.

Once at the Abbey, it was truly amazing. They took 160 years ...

A Day in Chalon sur Saone

A brisk walk to the local Boulangerie commences a casual and relaxed day in a lovely town. About the size if Toowoomba the main old town area is a shopping Mecca for the girls. Housed in 15th century buildings the ambience is calm and relaxed. Vac & Kim go shopping for Diesel to top up the tanks as the port refuelling station is not operational. Interesting sight with Vac ...
