    A Totally Relaxing Day

A travel blog entry by eldonsteeves on May 29, 2015

Today was a special day. To begin with it's Andy 41st Birthday and Dan and Michelle's 16th wedding anniversary. They both got their cards on time so that made us happy.

We had a really lazy day today. We didn't even move the car. We went into town for some breakfast. Stopped at a panini shop, shared a sandwich, had coffee and some juice.

We walked around town. It was fun. There was a food market going on. There were so many ...

... little restaurant right on the water. We each had a before dinner drink and ordered a bottle of rose to share with our meal. Eldon ordered the fish, and I ordered the veal. My veal was a disappointment but the risotto was delicious. Eldon's fish was amazing with four different sides on his plate. He had a scoop of tapenade, tomato puree, smashed squash and I believe smashed celeriac. It was a really nice ...

We got back to our hotel and had an after dinner drink. Eldon had the Myrte and I had the Limoncello. The myrle is some kind of fruit from the island here. It was tasty, but we couldn't understand what type of fruit it ...

... Each time we met a car coming the other way we both had to stop and one reverse until it was wide enough to pass. At the top of the mountain was the village of Sant'Antoninu which has a permanent population of about 30 and has 360 degree views of the surrounding area. Absolutely magnificent. I neglected to mention that Max has hurt two of her toes in two separate incidents so walking is difficult at the moment. So we stayed in the village and had a frappe. This area ...

... accompanied by a light rain shower. Corte is the centre for the Corsica National Park which covers a large part of,the centre of the island. After settling into the hotel, we went into town to walk around and have a drink in the main square. There were a lot of hikers and bicyclists around. In the evening, we had a great meal at a trendy, modern restaurant called ...
