... that are steeped in history. The cathedral of Ajaccio is very ordinary with its plain ochre baroque façade. It would be classed as a church, and a very non-descript one, in many European cities. The cathedral has been made famous by the marble plaque at the entrance to the cathedral with the inscription: ‘If they forbid my corpse, as they have forbidden my body, a small piece of land in which to be laid, I desire to be buried with my ancestors in Ajaccio ...

... again at a restaurant in the mountain village of Tolla for a snack of local specialties. We were each given a plate filled with sausage, bread and cookies and our choice of wine or orange juice. We decided to try the wine – although it was only 10:15 AM where we were, it was 5 o’clock somewhere. J Everything, including the wine, was good.

... just after we stopped a truck full of sheep went passed.
Great little hotel with coastal views in Porto.
An afternoon walk and drinks on the balcony before pizza and rose' at the local restaurant.

... the pirates and beautiful stonewalls with limestone caves etc. Lots of photos here, always a sign that I really like the place. After doing a boat tour around the harbour, I took a little train up to the old town/ bastion. When I came back there was nothing like a rose in the sun! Overall this reminds me more of a Greek Island, not sure which one, than say Sicily. I can see Sardinia on the horizon, only 12 km away so will be interesting to compare them in the ...
