Just when we thought Venice was the most beautiful place we would visit in Italy, Varenna may have beaten it into second place. Neither of us can get our heads round the fact that we are actually seeing what's around us. The apartment is amazing and the views from the balcony alone are worth the trip. Claire has also befriended a blind cat so we keep having to think of excuses to go and see the lady so Claire can rub the cat.

We were given an information pamphlet in French, Italian and English and instructed to turn on to a dedicated radio channel which gave us instructions in the three ...

... centre of Menaggio I celebrated the broadening of both my religious and cultural knowledge with a fine Italian meal accompanied by some fine Italian wine.

Yesterday I raved on at great length about my Wotif booking. It was probably boring for which I apologise. I initially thought it might be helpful to others, but then I found I needed such a long winded discussion to explain. If you persevered with the whole story, I hope you found it useful.

Back on the bus to the hotel in Lake Maggiore (called Grand Dino), back by 4.30pm, rest the out to a restaurant nearby for dinner with a few of the group, Peter had seafood pasta and I had vegetarian cannelloni.
