Had a good laugh with him as we waited for our little mini Peloton to catch up. the whole group had a beautiful ride coming down a valley to ride along the Douro river to our winery hotel for the night. Those great support staff at InGamba, when we were leaving our coffee stop, slipped a can of beer into my back jersey pocket. ... have lunch at Quinta da Avessada, a beautiful century-old winery. Some of the passengers had disembarked early in order to get there for the wine-stomping, but we stayed on board. After an outdoor reception with wine and snacks, we were treated to a lovely lunch inside. The musicians continued to serenade us with the lively Portuguese tunes through lunch.

A festival was in progress in Lamego, with many interesting items for sale as well as delicious treats to eat and drink. The Portuguese Presunto air-cured ham is just as delicious as the Italian Prosciutto or the Spanish Serrano hams, which we enjoyed several times during our trip. We should have bought a couple of those vibrantly colored hats!

... river by boat. This in itself was a fabulous thing too. Again, the scenery was amazing and there was ************e there. The area we cruised has no direct roads to access the farms so the area isn't terribly built up. There were old ruined buildings, a few holiday houses and ski boats along with the odd train chugging along the old rocky tracks, but the rest was serenity.
