We got ourselves a late start today at 7:00. Who am I!? There was a free wine tap about 5 km away that opened at 8:00? Why not get two full bottles for tonight. Perfect timing! We cranked out 20 km by noon today and decided to keep going. It was the hottest day we both have ever experienced! The extra distance was four and a half miles in no shade. Nic could have collapsed! We powered through the heat without an abundance of water. We made it to an awesome albergue ...

It wasn't. He insisted on giving me an apricot, despite ...

The nearly walked off without their phone after the photo. I think the San Fermin organising committee could probably look at adding other events to the 'running of the bulls' to value add to the event. Perhaps the world paramedic championships would be an obvious choice! The ambulances and injuries that abound ...

... a small road and up a high ridge and along another field of gold wheat to the ruins. I don't know what the hell we had expected to find up there. A cleared out ruin with flat foor boards and an old dining table, rickety but stable, and some cold beers that had been left behind for adventurous noble pilgrims weary from a day of walking. Well, we found none of these things. What we did find, and you might be surprised to learn this. what we did find was a bloody ruined ...
