... Terre was a very fun and full day yesterday, but got off to a rough start. Turns out I bought my train ticket for the wrong day, so once on the train when the employee checked my ticket and saw it was the wrong day, I had to buy another ticket as well as pay a 50 euro penalty fee.   • I want to call out the person who made up these ridiculous rules about 3oz liquids and them having to fit into some small bag when carrying on luggage. Can someone please explain the logic to me? And how did they come up with these size limits? If you can not tell I am really upset about having to throw away some of my liquids at the airport in London. I am trying to travel the world with a carry on size bag, cut a guy ...

... the piazza in front of the massive Cathedral with its ornate facade. A gentleman in the town hall across from it struck up a conversation with us and said it took 12 generations of builders to complete the structure. The town had a nice semi urban vibe to it and I noticed it is on the main train line between Florence and Rome. Easy to revisit without a car. :-)

After leaving Cortona we slipped briefly out of Tuscany to visit nearby Assisi in the province of Perugia. Resting place for St Francis it was sombre to visit his tomb under the church there, however the rest of the town has been transformed into a religious tourist destination. What said it all was the carousel outside one of the churches that was adorned with religious motifs...note the Francescan monks in the background. ...
