... not a bad way to spend my birthday!

Monday 9th June

Its home time today, and to make the most of it, we're up at the crack of dawn and out by the pool again before our 10am shuttle to the airport. I will be sad to leave the sunshine, cactus's and ocean, but will not miss having to dispose of toilet paper in a bin (due to their delicate system)! Adios Lanzarote, hasta luego!

... the beach. After a slow wander home, we made our way to Playa del Carmen for my birthday night out. Its an hour long bus ride, but a great way to see some of the island. We find a small restaurant overlooking the ocean for dinner, and I'm quite proud get ashamed to say, that we scoffed the most amazing meat platter - family size - 2 pork chops, 4 chicken breasts, 3 small steaks, 2 pork belly and 2 large steaks! YUM! All topped off with a jug of their finest sangria. The meat plate ...

Got a good nights rest so waking up at 5:30 wasn't too bad. Not to mention how anxious I was anyway for the day ahead. Got ready super quick and headed down to the bus. It was a very nice charter bus so I snoozed just a little but the ride to town was only about 35 or 40 minutes. When we got into town every sidewalk had people flooding down to the beach. The driver took us as close as he could before getting stuck in traffic. We got off the bus ...

Day 11: Bring On The Sun

... a LONG day. And I'm not even doing the race so I can't image how those people are gonna survive. Em and I are taking the 6am bus over the to beach to watch the start of the race and then won't be able to come back until about 11pm. Really hoping the sun is at least out for a little bit, but at the same time for the sake of all the racers I hope it's mostly overcast. I will definitely be napping on the beach a lot tomorrow. And maybe getting a little ...

... and then I didn't remember "verde" meant green so I kept pushing the wrong button. All those years of Spanish and didn't even remember my colors. Whoops.
Enjoyed a fine array of salami, cheese and crackers while watching the iron man parade process through the hotel. The parade was led by this all female drum line and they were thee most lively group! It was a very very cool experience to see. Just kickin' it all day tomorrow, really hoping the sun decides to come ...
