... no pedestrians though! Whilst I stood there and contemplated the life of the level crossing security guards as he sat in his little shack on the other side something caught my eye. I looked up and watched four young lads walking down the railway track, clearly deep in discussion, probably about cricket (bats in hand) or something or other teenager orientated. Stayed in a very nice homestay in Alleppey last night and met some lovely people at breakfast.

Our driver offered to take us up the coast road to Fort Kochi and we called in at a few beaches along the way.

There were enormous Catholic Churches dotted all the way up the road side and a few big festivals and celebrations going on.

We, however, were on a small narrow seating boat maybe 1.5m wide and 10m ...

A cup of cold coffee and a piece of cake

... for a break. We return to the art cafe where we had lunch a couple of days ago and order iced coffee and chocolate cake. Believe it or not this is the first cake that has passed our lips since arriving in India. I was tempted with lemon cake in Hampi but, unsure how long it had been there, gave it a miss. The cake here is in sealed glass cabinets and only one slice has been cut - it looks moist indicating it's likely to be fresh. The cake arrives - it is indeed moist and ...
