Our stay in Nice was short but comfortable at the Hotel Le Royal. The rooms were small, but clean and quiet, so we had great sleeps to adjust to France time from our long arduous flight. Great location right on the main drag across from the fantastic Nice beach.

My hotel room is upsy-downsy: my bathroom and a little sitting room are on the level of the hallway, but my bed is up a staircase. I even have two televisions! If I stick my head way out my window, I have a glimpse of the sea.

We spent the night sharing old memories and reminiscing about good times. Its times like these when you're staying up far too late and have a few more drinks than you probably should, that really cement old friendships, fortify new ones and create deep bonds that tie you together for years to come.

... our hotel. We quickly found Hi Beach were disappointed to find out that they were closing early because of an event. So we walked down the beach and found Florida Beach. We splurged for the chairs, umbrella and towels. We got a front row view. We struggled with the umbrellas to try to get some shade, but eventually we figured it out. It was necessary to move the umbrella every 20 minutes or so. There were some incredibly tanned people on the ...

... proved delightful: the pebbly beach was in a nice little cove and the weather perfect that day. The water was even warm enough to swim, although the pebbles were uncomfortable and my thongs keep floating off! We played cards and had some wine and I finished off my bread and cheese.

Back in Nice we all got ready and I ate a slightly uninspiring chicken, cheese and walnut crepe at a nearby restaurant. We then met in the hostel's common room, including some others ...
