      Great stay in Nice

Our stay in Nice was short but comfortable at the Hotel Le Royal. The rooms were small, but clean and quiet, so we had great sleeps to adjust to France time from our long arduous flight. Great location right on the main drag across from the fantastic Nice beach.

Well I have finally arrived in Nice, France... fabulous trip over - got to spend time with my buddy from primary school Simone and her husband Markus. ( and yes, loved the business class adventure).

Finally in my room after some shopping and lovely lunch - had to share
the magnificent view with you .. I feel like it is all real now!< …

      Nice was not so nice

... the difference in the trip. Later we could not imagine trying to manage two cars in the mayhem that occurs on French roads and highways! Barry and I would have had to follow Butch and that would have been a descent into the worst kind of traffic hell. Besides, who would Butch have had as an audience when he yelled at the (CENSORED) French drivers?

... like living in a world of white noise. It's like everyone around you is just saying blah blah blah blah - because you can't understand a word (well, I can't - mostly). Half the time in Spain and France I am secretly praying that shop owners
don't talk to me - so that I don't have to say my standard phrases - Yo
no hablo espanol or Je ne parle pas francais.

Soon as we crossed into Italy, we stopped at a rest stop and the white noise ended. It was like ...

Nice and Monaco - The day of the Scooter

... we just put the wrong gas in the first scooter we rented... Oops, we needed to fill up and figured the gas labeled gasoline was sufficient but turns out the scooter we had was diesel (they never mentioned this too us)... It can't run on gasoline, so we had to walk it all the way back to the rental place as it stopped working. All was gravy though as we just had to pay a small fine (total BS though, their fault) and then they'd give us a new one. So after about 30 ...

... This morning we rose early and headed out for an adventurous day, we hired bikes and rode the coast for a good hour or so, past the harbour and around to some quiet beach nooks. We saw many many amazing yachts and gorgeous little timber fishing boats. We found a pebbled beach and climbed down the rocks to access it. As there were only about 5 other people there and it was very small, we could both swim ...
