Our stay in Nice was short but comfortable at the Hotel Le Royal. The rooms were small, but clean and quiet, so we had great sleeps to adjust to France time from our long arduous flight. Great location right on the main drag across from the fantastic Nice beach.

When the group was done visiting the Casino, we decided we were all ready to make our way to Italy for the final adventure of the trip. I had copied train times down the night before to aid in our travels, and despite ...

... about what to wear to adhere to the supposedly strict dress-code for this punting Mecca I was outraged to see bogan Aussies sporting jeans and t-shirts. Why the **** did I buy new shoes?! I figured I'd vent my frustration in the most mature way possible: drinking and gambling. Chances of the former were quickly dashed when I discovered a vodka soda would set me back €18 ($25 Aussie). I quizzed the bartender if the V&S would be mixed ...

Nice has historically been an area where wealthy people have had apartments to spend the summers and latterly, the winters, and appears to have a younger demographic than Frejus, which seemed like a retirement place.
We have enjoyed visiting galleries here and caught a jazz concert last night at the conservatorium. ...

This spurred a good conversation with my dad and although we didn't understand the whole situation, stopping at Villefranche was more convenient for us.

I woke up nice and early, around 8:30AM. Got ready and headed up for breakfast in the Oceanview Cafe, deck 14. Breakfast time is usually the ...
