After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... seen and spoken to, to date.
Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... the wonderful "fun" and "vitamin" radio stations to keep us entertained with "Evacuate the Dancefloor" and 3 other dance songs that they kept repeating.

http://picasaweb.goog le.com/Jonny.D.Lawrence/20090928Cannes? authkey=Gv1sRgCPHzqZ_hy_fA8AE&feat= directlink
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjon... so we entered and relinquished our 10 Euro entry fee to enter the infamous Monte-Carlo casino only to relinquish several more euros once inside. Before leaving, we took a few minutes to appreciate the artwork and interior of the casino. For us, it felt like we were in a scene of Casino Royale with James Bond! I kept looking for Daniel Craig.

Our dinner reservations at Sabatini's was 8:30pm. The ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... wanted to get in that water after the climb up to the lookout! So off he went and we gingerly walked down to the water.

I was having real trouble getting in as the drop is quite steep into the water, so I pretty much just dove in straight away even though I was only in about 1 foot of water! It was such beautiful water! The temperature was cool but not cold and it is such dense water, very salty so it was so easy to float.

We hung out in the water for ...
Nice, Provence, France kimmykak... I was distracted from writing by the wifi connection in the middle of nowhere and
Federer winning the French open, good for him. The finale of the day, the piece de resistance was the BBQ, what a delight, courgettes, peppers, mushrooms, burgers (for me), the taste buds didn't quite know what had hit them and I got to play with fire, a favourite hobby of mine. We rounded of the perfect rest day with a call to home then bed.

It is safe to say that the word ...
Nice, Provence, France sh3251... and started to walk down the stairs to the tarmac when suddenly the man in front of Colleen started running down the stairs, and sprinted underneath the still powering down engine towards the rear of the plane...weird, we thought, and then looked towards the plane's tail to see a lady's body lying on the ground....what?!? The plane's rear door was open, and the stairs down to the tarmac looked to be in place, so what was going on? Then we ...
Nice, Provence, France collyromas... We were on our way into town when it came down so ran back to the hotel and grabbed our jackets. Made it as far as the corner store when the thunder and lighting began, we turned around and headed back to the hotel, bad idea because we got completely saturated, mind you it was not cold at all! Very funny! Getting back to Nice, that is where we are now. Had a free nite last nite ...
Nice, Provence, France melan... the water channels that brought hot water from the center. We also saw pieces of the original stone-paved Roman roads and homes (tiny!). We walked through the park, which was filled with ancient olive trees, and watched men and women playing bocce ball (at least we thought that was what it was) and boys playing soccer. We stopped briefly in the monastery where they had a nice free exhibit with piped in Gregorian chant. I thought the "reconstructed" monks ...
