... for a manager. The manager did not want to deal with us. We were told "he's in a meeting". Jim demanded he come out of the meeting, and he did. Jim asked for a car to be sent to retrieve us. No, it is not their policy to help the people dumb enough to get stranded. After a couple rounds of this type of banter Jim gave up and hung up the phone.
Another woman in the tourism office took over and kindly said, "Just spend the day in Windsor. It's a lovely town." But how do ...

Once again the children had a ball playing with the girls, and by the end of the evening they were great friends.

Windsor Castle

... read fancy) can enter the Queen's box and be granted presence. I find that hard to believe, but it's still fun to see them in their proper dress. Imagine the Kentucky Derby times three.

Windsor Castle is the oldest (active) royal residence in the world. It was begun during the medieval period and has gone through significant changes and additions with various monarchs. It's quite the complex. We toured with audio guides because ding bat ...

Windsor Castle and Eton

... located conveniently away from the inner city of London. The castle itself is huge and you can see it from any point in the town. I didn't tour the castle as me and my parents will be doing that soon. There's plenty of other things to do in Windsor. The town is built mainly on tourism with every chain imaginable and tons of souvenir shopping. It's cheesy but nice at the same ...

Visit to Windsor Castle

Scott had the week off for term break and while his other days off we used to travel we decided from a financial point we still wanted to travel but keep it closer to home this time. There were still some things here in England that we wanted to see and booked a bus tour to knock some of them off our list. It was a one day tour leaving from London early in the morning and returning after supper. The game plan was to see ...

... bellies! The deadlier creatures are kept behind glass, but are beautiful none the less, in fabulous colors of indigo, yellow and green. Unfortunately the piranas were not hungry and did not show us their teeth during feeding time, but there were plenty of other crawlies. Another unfortunate footnote is that the current Duke of Northumberland has gotten planning permission to build a hotel on this part of his estate and The ...

Two Days in the Centre of London

... it you'll be surprised by the photos. I then headed east along the river towards a huge naval vessel that now is a tourist attraction, the HMS Belfast. Now quite an old ship, it was quite famous during World War II, and could fire fairly accurately from about 22.5 km's away! I continued walking along the south bank of the Thames till I reached Tower Bridge. I took several snaps of the bridge before crossing and getting a good view. Once I reached the North bank I ...

London Arrival

A bumpy but timely landing welcomed me at London Heathrow at 11:50 in the AM on Thursday April 19, in the year of our lord 2007. Sleepily, I oriented myself to my new surroundings and the responsibilities associated: collecting my luggage, dragging myself through the lengthy customs line, answering an airport satisfaction survey, attempting to withdraw money with my WAMU debit card only to have it rejected (an obstacle of great ...
