... fallen after being told that all the boats were booked today and we couldn't have one. We booked one for Wednesday instead. So plan A had failed and was postponed. Mike undeterred from his requirement to board a boat decided that Plan B could be to board one of the ferries and visit Sirmione instead. This part of the journey is very scenic and the road winds up and down and through tunnels etc as it drops height until you reach the valley floor filled with with acres of grape vines in neat rows or fields filled with apple orc********* a couple of steeper sections we were slightly concerned about a squealing noise from the brakes but we just slowed right back down and had to use the gears a bit more ...

... our next lift at Passo Pordoi. This next lift carried us and another 65 people crammed in each cable car up to the most amazing view at Saas Pordoi, almost the highest point in the Sella Group. As we climbed higher we could see some Rock climbers on the cliff face... It made our via Ferrata look like a walk in the park! We could see below us the winding zigzag path to the top which we were sure Binny and Laura would probably use ...

... letting the water run off very well, there was so much in such a short time it was forming puddles in dips in the roof. We did what we could to fix it and retreated to the luxury of the caravan to play Uno and congratulate ourselves on not being in a tent! As we peered out the window at other people who were tenting with a river in the middle of their tent we felt very smug with our dry caravan and a nice cup of tea. Until... ...
