Day 21 - Day trip to Colonia

An early start meant that we were off to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, across the large 'Rio de Plata' from Buenos Aires. It's an easy day trip as the express boats make the passage in just under an hour, giving you plenty of time to see the colonial old town in one day.

We spent the rest of the day wandering the old town and the new in spectacular weather, before lazing in the sun on the roof of the hostel. That afternoon we ...

Shall we go to Uruguay for lunch?

... form of transport seems to be golf buggies with various hire companies touting for business at the ferry terminal. Though to use a golf buggy to get round the old town is as lazy as using one on a golf course. So we walked. A couple of hours later and it was time for lunch. And in a place like this lunch should take at least two to three hours. We chose a little cafe in one of the tree lined squares to try Uruguay's signature ...
