... pay in euros! The hotel manager wondered why we had come to South America though as Europe has trains and buildings that are a lot older. We didn't tell him that sometimes we wondered that ourselves, but overall have enjoyed this leg. John has been teasing Rhianwyn as although her Spanish has improved it is still basic, not knowing "Can I?" Or "May I?" She has been using "Is it possible?" Every other sentence. . . . John still scared from past experiences ...

... ordered a medium steak topped with blue cheese. All I can say was it was worth every step taken to reach it and every minute waited to eat it! Served with side dishes such as mashed potato with Dijon mustard, garlic cloves in red wine, freshly made apple sauce and pickled aubergine it was a taste sensation and at 25 US$ including wine and service charge incredible value.

We took a taxi back to the hotel to find a note under our doors ...

... we arrived in Colonia around 11am and therefore had about 6 hours to spend in this cute little town until our ferry was returning. Unfortunately, we didn't have much luck with the weather that day and were dressed way too optimistic again (reminded me of our trip to Valparaíso). Since the air con was nevertheless blasting at full speed and the ferry was moving a little more than we had hoped for, we were rather glad when we arrived on the other side.

... in the converted original old houses. The old town area is only a few blocks so we easily covered it twice, had lunch, revisited a few places, and a coffee stop all at a very relaxed pace by the time we were ready to be picked up.
