At the first place we went to, Sasha recognised someone’s voice in the back of the winery and lo and behold it was someone she knew in Margaret River who was now here working and doing wine tours. Small world!

Without boring you about all the wines, we had a great couple of days ...

... out of work to walk from his home town, near Cologne, to Rome. He tries to cover 35kms a day and he sleeps out at night - using a bivouac - as much as possible. Not surprisingly, he spoke perfect English, which made conversation on a range of topics - including (surprise, surprise) the recent World Cup - very easy indeed.

The thing most noteworthy about our acquaintance was how it impacted on my walking pace. On the first day we walked ...
