We had a very nice buffet breakfast at our hotel this morning. At 9 am Kumiko Asami arrived in front of the hotel in her little green Suzuki to pick us up and take us to the train station where we met Haruyo Handa and Kazuko Yamaguchi. Totally worth the wait.

We ran into other JETs and friends that were attending (including two of the girls ...

... was closed by the time we arrived. We were greeted with boarded up stalls, wet concrete and the smell of fish. Then walked for 45 mins to a yatai (pop-up restaurant), which we'd read we really should eat in to experience the local cuisine and culture - it transpired we were walking in the wrong direction! You can imagine our euphoria to discover that - and then, to top it all off, it started to rain! ...
