Kyoto day 1

A travel blog entry by marstravel on Jul 05, 2014

... We took the rapid local train which is 45 minutes to Kyoto much quicker than we thought and nearly missed the stop! Once we started walking from the station I had flash backs to 5 years ago but not enough to remember exactly where the accommodation was ! I did remember all the bikes out the front though ! I also remembered there was the new building and the old building . Chilling out in the common area we reread the ...

Well this part all went according to plan and we spent the first day of our hike making our way ever upward along increasingly steep terrain. Both museums were wonderful and both deserve an entry each I'm sure, but I will try to only focus on the former and leave the latter for a later date and summarize it for you now in two words...polka dots. I don't mean to be cryptic (well maybe I do) but time is of the essence and the longer I sit twiddling my thumbs over the keyboard the ...

... the food...

We have enjoyed trying new foods in Japan and you may recall the less than tasty trials of uni and other such foods. This will be different. After seeing the castle and filling our eyes and ears with the history of Japan it was time to get out of dodge for a couple hours and feel at home again. We found the most western place possible and plunked ourselves down at a table at the Old Rock Public House. Beer labels on ...
