Tour #2!

... meter deep cave but only 400 meters is open to the public. There were lots of neat things to look at in the cave. A small turtle waterfall, a rock formation that looked like an alligator, a mirror pond and a 30 meter waterfall were just a few of the things to look at! There was also a coooooold spring that you could put your feet in to relax them. I would have but I wore sneakers that day and didn't bring anything to dry my feet with.

After the cave we ...

Baseball

Went yesterday with Corey and Hitomi to watch a Major League Baseball game! I'd never been to a baseball stadium before so this was an extra bonus! The mascot prior to the game's start was doing flips for the crowd and was going well until he did a backflip and landed on his face. Stumbled up and fell over the barrier trying to leave the stadium with everyone clapping. The stadium was divided into two ...

Shizuoka - Current Home

Shizuoka is beautiful! Words really can't describe the experience of being here, there's modern buildings, and there's ancient buildings, there's Businessman, and there's women wearing traditional Kimono's. The city itself is so clean, and the weather is amazing. Stayed the first few nights in hotels, while trying to figure out somewhere to live, and at the same time applying for work, looking at rental properties, doing all ...

... in Kanaya. I was not sure if I could see Mt. Fuji on the day, because it depended on the weather. But I tried my luck, because I may not have had a chance to return around there in my life. From Yui station, Satta Pass Viewpoint was 3.5 km away. There was a rental bike shop in front of the station, but considering the uphill to the pass, I didn't rent it. Eventually, the view from the pass was disappointing. I couldn't see Mt. Fuji at all, because of a large ...

... must have played a big role as well. Their non-stop organized chants were powerful and hypnotic, if somewhat similar to the opposing team's chants. Speaking of which, Sebastian accidently wore the opposing team's colours, and stuck out pretty bad on the home side. whoops!

Hamamatsu Kite Festival

... as well as some of the usual fare...including toy guns for sale...at every matsuri we've been to, you can always buy toy guns! Some look very realistic too...A matsuri just isn't a matsuri without a gun! This matsuri was really fun! And everyone was decked out in their festival wear, right down to tabi, and many played trumpets and drums. Apparently there is only one official tune to play for this matsuri though, haha...

Strawberry Picking in Shizuoka

We take a short day trip to nearby Shizuoka to visit a small temple (reached by climbing 1159 stairs...or a convenient ropeway)...and then for some strawberry picking! We actually arrived too late, but some of the strawberry workers took pity on us and let us do it! 1000yen for 30mins of all you can eat strawberries! Combined we must have had over 200! It was a feat we cared less and less about with each strawberry we stuffed down our throats. Not very Japanese...
