... a tourist destination.

Not so much English spoken here but have managed OK to get feed and watered. In fact the food I have had the last couple of days has been superb.
Also in Sapporo I had some really nice curry soups ( with a chicken leg and veges ) I will have to learn how to make that.

Our hostel was luckily just by the train station and we checked in and had a chat with the friendly owner who gave us lots of tips for a walking tour around the sights. It was a painfully early start in order to stumble onto the 5:20am train leaving Asahikawa on our five train and almost 10 hour mission heading South; this took us from Ashikawa to Sapporo to Hakodate to Shin-Aomori to Morioka and finally to Tazawako! This was interspersed with dashes around the stations during the transfers to pick up egg sandwiches, doughy sausages on sticks and rice ball snacks. Quite a day of travelling, but ...
