    After getting up, we headed to Shibuya train station. Here there is a statue of a dog named Hachikō, who would meet his master at this station when he returned home each day. One day his master died and did not return but the faithful dog continued to go to the station to wait for his friend every day, for 9 more years, until he himself died. It was a very touching story which became a national inspiration, hence the statue.

    ... cold (12 degrees) And Akita isn't any better although luckily the rain stayed away today and I was able to look around without getting wet.

    I am certainly not on a backpacker trail here. Even to the extent there are no hostels. I had to get a hotel room ( 2 star ) and pay a little more than hostel dorm prices. The 2 star here though is pretty good so I am not complaining ( too much)
