... a mid-aged Japanese couple came in after playing a baseball game. They spoke almost no English either but were really interested in talking with me (thank you google translate). We shared some hot sake (which I am beginning to LOVE) and some cold sake (do not like as much), and they helped me order some better food. We hung out for a while but eventually I left (had to make curfew). I enjoyed a nice soak in the Onsen at the top of my hostel ...

... swims (or floats, or rests on the bottom) in the ocean, you can probably get it at the Tsukiji market. We took time in the afternoon to buy groceries for a couple days, anticipating hungry bellies as we hike up and down Mt. Fuji. He suffered through re-taking ones I took early that day. Will ate ice cream and posed for photos with random Japanese people. He watched the mules carting passengers. He climbed on the telescopes and through some tunnels. At least Will was having the time of his life. It wasn't a bad day. I'm glad we went, ...

Fuji trek

Left our capsule hostel at 6am to get a direct bus to the start of our trail, Yoshida 5th Station (about 2.5 hours south west of Tokyo. Started hiking at 10am Surprised at how much 'climbing' was required rather than hiking. This is definitely not a trek you just decide to do there and then. Made it to our mountain hut for the night called Fujisan hotel before any other guests arrived. The temperature was much colder than what we've been used to. Bunk beds in the mountain hut were like ...
