Back to Oirase for some real fall color
... with the oil paints & canvas.
The best all colors I've seen in Japan were in Hirosaki on my last trip. The red maple trees in the city park there were phenomenal!
......now it's officially that in between season where it is too cold for summer activities, but not cold enough for winter activities. ......guess i's time to clean house now :o)

Fall Colors.......sort of
... the signs of fall in Japan - farmers harvesting rice and in many cases manually arranging the stalks to dry. Northern Japan is still a very rural agricultural area where many farmers still do much of their work by hand. It is amazing seeing a half-dozen people, often women, out working in a field planting or harvesting something by hand.

Paddle, Paddle, Paddle the Kayak.....
... turn. Fall has come late this year. Normally, by this time of year the mountains would be bright shades of red and gold, but it seems summer held on so long that the leaves are behind schedule. ....I don't mind. This time of year the weather is wonderful.
....and it is the beginning of apple ...
Mountain Adventure
... to see the beginnings of fall colors, but there were very, very little color (other than summer green). The nearest thing I saw that looked like fall were the rice fields that are turning golden and a few the farmers are beginning to harvest.
I spend about five hours hiking. It was GREAT! .....now it's time to SLEEP!

Volcanic Hike
... up was easier than coming back down. After hiking all three peaks, I realized I really should have gone back for my water. Oh well, too late at this point! ....lesson learned :o)
Finally made it back to my vehicle.....rehydrated, each some snacks and realized I was TIRED!! As I drove home, I decided to reward myself with a "Lawson's" ...
