First stop in Hokkaido
... doesn't come any fresher as we caught our own squid, had it cut up and ready to eat in one minute. And yes, it was still twitching on our chopsticks - just can't beat this! Of course we also had to try scallops, salmon, sea urchin, fish eggs and king crab…all to die for.

The main attraction here is the night view atop Hakodate Mt. I had dinner very early, at 5 pm so that we could go up before dusk. Unfortunately, most groups shared the same mentality. So it's just incredibly crowded. The proverb 'people mountain people sea' depicts the scene nicely. All you could see are heads of people.
