... the train watchers who dotted the route to take photos of the train. I guess steam trains are not a common sight for people around here or anywhere else in the world.

We were supposed to go on another train that was to go on to the Torroko line and across the Usui Viaduct. 20 minutes before we arrived, Takako had confirmed with them that we were taking the 1pm train. However, when we got there, the train had developed a fault and the trip had to ...

We went out with Norzin today. Shigeki was at work at Mito, a suburb 2 hours east of Tachikawa. She brought our clean clothes back to us and as we had to check out of the hotel, we hurriedly stuffed the clothes into Joseph's bag. ... posters of South American modern dancers and poetry on the walls. It was exactly the kind of place we were looking for so we stopped in for a glass of wine and enjoyed the atmosphere. It was the perfect way to spend the last night in Tokyo.

On Sunday morning, Rhonda and Shylo boarded the bus and headed back to the US. I think we've all been getting a whole lot of sleep since then!

... Soon after I passed the temples, I arrived at the summit! It had beautiful views, and I was surprised to see the top of Mount Fuji in the distance behind a range of mountains!! Clouds covered the lower half, but the summit was visible with snow on it still. Any day that I can have lunch looking at Mount Fuji over a mountain range after a hike is a great day. I think I was the only foreigner on the mountain that day, most of the fellow hikers were much older and probably ...
