    ... finishing work rather than heading for a night on the town. It makes for unbelievable crowds, it reminds one of an ants' nest with people moving in all directions, just managing not to touch, as they rush to the myriad of train platforms!

    We got the train back to Ueno, admiring all the bright neon lights on the way, had a late meal and headed back to the hotel, tired but having enjoyed a really great day.

    ... for the 2011 great East earthquake/ Tsunami victims at the temple so it made for an interesting visit, again I didn't really understand what was going on due to the language but it was clear it was an important event, my visitor ticket also included a visit to the inner sanctum which is a pitch black passageway that you walk through in precession under the main temple, a very bizarre experience as a sense of slight panic sets in as you feel your way along the wall ...

    ... now it was dark so we wrapped up very warmly and joined the rest of the people in the town in viewing the castle & blossoms by floodlight. Being Saturday evening it was extremely busy but everyone is very polite and considerate so there is no pushing and shoving which makes it very pleasant.
