Despite being 3:45 am, Will's sleepy eyes snapped to attention when he saw the MWR bus. Dai, our driver, enthusiastically waved hello. They'd become buddies on our last tour. I wearily installed the car seat and wondered if I was crazy attempting this long day with Will by myself. However, I heard Nikko was a "must-see" especially with the autumn foliage. "Never say kekko (magnificent) until you see Nicco," our tour guide told us as we began the four hour journey. Luckily Will fell ...

... take a photo and one of the photographers came up and started talking to me. I told him (with the phrase that Amy taught me), "Sorry, I speak very little Japanese." However, he continued and somewhere in his words, I heard "Golden Eagle" which I assumed to mean that they were birdwatchers all on the lookout for the elusive golden eagle as there didn't seem to be much picture taking going on. They were mostly just hanging out. The view from the summit was superb. It was still ...

... it down with icy cold beer. The cutest and most genius idea was that each setting had access to a hot water tap and matcha powder - you could make your own green tea! We had one with roasted rice mixed in and it was so tasty. Then we jumped on board a water bus to tour through Tokyo Bay. It was perfect weather so we were allowed to stand up on top (beers in hand) and the views were postcard perfect. It was such a beautiful ...
