Since it was raining in Sorrento I decided to skip the Amalfi coast and Capri. With my extra time I wanted to hit the pizza place Di Matteo that was supposedly better than Da Michele. You know me, I'm an equal opportunity pizza eater. I have no loyalties except to whomever serves up the best pie.<br><br>The reason why I hadn't tried Di Matteo previously was because I thought it was only take-away. I walked all around the perimeter of the restaurant before and couldn't see any ...
Naples, Campania, Italy josiezim... not like a modern city where you can tell someone to turn left at the blue house with the white car out front. It would be like saying turn left at the ruined house with 19 remaining bricks. Oh Josie, you're losing your audience, what the heck are you talking about? MY POINT: Pompei is a big, ruined city that is hard to navigate without a guide. <br><br>I took a ton of photos and have added captions to help explain what you're looking ...
Sorrento, Campania, Italy josiezimTomorrow morning we catch a train for Sorrento. We will be there for 4 nights. We will take day trip to Amalfi, but we will not be staying at the hotel there. Joe and I decided that our stay on the Amalfi coast will be more enjoyable if we do not change hotels , so we extended our stay at the hotel in Sorrento, and cancelled the one in Amalfi. Just wanted to let everyone know in case you needed to reach us.
Sorrento, Campania, Italy mandjcann... time I've ever experienced! Anyway, at 7:55 I went to check out the menu of the vegetarian restaurant. While it looked delicious I thought to myself, "Josie, you love pizza. You are in Naples. You had some pretty amazing pizza for lunch. Shouldn't you just go back and have it again for dinner?"<br><br>And so I did.<br><br>Ironically they seated me at the exact same table as before. I, again, was paired with another group at ...
Naples, Campania, Italy josiezim... they actually used olive oil AND butter. And the knife they provided was fantastic. That's sometimes a challenge with Italian-style pizza. Because they don't pre-slice it you have to cut it yourself and often it just becomes a mess. But this knife was perfect... so perfect in fact it's now in my suitcase. :)<br><br>The only negative was this incredibly annoying guy dressed up like the Napolean clown person and going from table to table slamming ...
Naples, Campania, Italy josiezimStayed in a small town south of Naples (Vico Enquense) which was right on the water (in a rather remote cove). We rented an apartment for the week which was part of a hotel complex. At the beginning of our trip, we met Tony (from Jersey City) who was from Vico and told us where to get the best pizza and his wife was from Sorrento (which is just south of Vico) so we had some ...
Naples, Campania, Italy pathenger... to the grotto was completely covered by crashing waves, so I knew they weren’t kidding). Anyway, I was disappointed, until we were approached by two Italian brothers who said they would take us on their private boats on a two-hour tour all around Capri, complete with a swimming stop in the Green Grotto. At first I thought we were getting scammed, but since it was a lot cheaper and longer than boat ride to the Blue Grotto would’ve been, we ...
Sorrento, Campania, Italy caranescaBuon Giorno! This morning we woke up in Napoli or commonly known as Naples! This would be the port where you could take tours to Mt. Vesuvius or the ruins of Pompeii, the famed Roman city that was buried by volcanic ash after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79AD. Or, tours were available to the beautiful coastal areas of Sorrento and Capri! Today, we opted to remain in Naples and tour the city ...
Naples, Campania, Italy ricknelsie... a bit - we took one of those crazy crowded buses to Forio - small but very cool and stylish town on our side of the isle. Ischia is not that big though so you can surround the entire isle in let's say 3 hours by bus. It's really cool doing that since you'll see a lot of different parts like the rocks in the middle and the coast on the other side in Ischia Porto. Forio - has a couple of ...
Ischia, Italy jess84... who lived on Bleecker Street for seven years how to properly eat a slice of pizza. The other girl was a kind local from Naples who took time to explain regional cuisine and many local customs. We sampled a great white wine grown from volcanic ash near Vesuvius called Greco di Tufo, and we tried homemade limoncello made from the area's infinite quantity of lemon trees, clear alcohol, and sugar. We also discussed fashion. Well, really, I only listened. It turns out that ...
