... police and questioned on our intentions in Puerto Rico. They suggested that we contact the US Coast Guard of our location and intent again. We would have checked in but found out that Customs and Immigration does not perform on-boat check in and requires cruisers to go to the airport to check in. Not wanting to deal with the hassle of going to the airport, we decided that we would simply leave our quarantine flag ...

... adds to the sense of authenticity, it also means the plantation is difficult to find, with no road signs pointing the way nor any mention of the place in tourist literature or on maps. At 5pm we have shepherds pie before setting up Ellisa for the night, reefing the sails and putting on the engine to recharge the batteries. A good night passed with 2 hour shifts , with lots ...

Today we decided to drive along the northern coast of Puerto Rico. We're staying in Loiza, which is on the northeast corner of the island, so we headed west.

We tried to stay as close to the coastline as possible which left us on smaller roads and going through some small towns. We stopped at a beach near Piñones and watched the large waves. We made our way around the Bay ...

A visit to Old San Juan

Old San Juan captivated us with its charm, beauty and history on Friday. Upon leaving the Fajardo Inn, our intent was to tour the old city for perhaps three hours, and then retreat to one of the beautiful beaches in close proximity to Fajardo. Part two of our plan was foiled, however, as Old San Juan was so spectacular (and fun) that we stayed for six hours. Even then, we were longing for more time to explore this fascinating ...
