Day 1: I get moving early and go across to the little cafe in the square for the BnB provided breakfast of tea or coffee and a croissant. They have free wifi which works. Yes! The BnB wifi is useless! After breakfast I head off to the boat pier and get a day ticket for the Middle lakes area. 15 euro and can be used to get to Villa Carlotta, Bellagio, Menaggio and back to Varenna. It's beautiful on the ...

... OMG! This is such an impossibly beautiful place. There is a photo op every second. The lake is gorgeous and the mountains are behind it. I'm so glad I came up here. We missed the last bus for our trip back to Bellagio but the waiters organised for the owner to take us back to Bellagio himself. Great food, great service and a nice chat with the owner on the way home was the perfect way to end another great stay in beautiful Bellagio.

Daylight savings began today and Sue happened to put her clock forward 2 hours and had everything packed by 6am before realising that it was very quiet outside.
We left Innsbruck and made our way towards Bellagio with the GPS sending us via St Moritz. Of course Lou was a bit worried about whether the road would be open all the way and how Sophie would cope. This was the quickest way and cut out about 2 hours so we took the gamble.

... stone walls of the Castle against a background of majestic lush mountains. As an engineer, I marvel at the skill, vision, and industriousness of the engineers/architects and workers. Truly magnificent!

Before sitting down for lunch at an outdoor restaurant perched on a section of one of the castle walls, we made a brief pass through the museum. The walls actually consisted of more or less an enclosed linear rectangular box through which an interior ...
