Another curiosity about Amsterdam is their bicycle culture. Amsterdam is really intense about their biking. As with anywhere, bicyclists have their own lanes. But in Amsterdam, they have their own traffic signals and if you get in their way, they will not hesitate to hit you at full speed. One time, I saw a man with a young girl on the back of his bike. Fun fact: the people of Amsterdam built incredibly narrow houses to save money but the stairwells were so tight, they couldn't move furniture in. So they built the houses to lean out so they could bring things up on a rope and pulley and not bang the furniture ...

Got sidetracked in the Flower Market in a cheese shop. So many cheeses and another helpful young lady letting us taste many of the varieties.

... houses. The house we are in was built in the 1600s! We are on the top floor in a room with brick side walls, slanted ceiling and giant beams. It's definitely the coolest hotel I've ever stayed in. We arrived in time to go down the street to watch the game at a local bar. That was great, fun, too.
