Took myself for a walk this evening in the Old Town section of Vilnius. This is a lovely little city once you get inside its original buildings that are a mix of Gothic and Bohemian styles of architecture. On commence par sortir de la ville avec 4 heures de sommeil et surement presque autant de grammes dans le sang. Apres plusieurs heures pour arriver a un bon endroit pour le stop et un peu plus d'une heure d'attente, un lithuanien qui a a peu pres fait la meme soiree et la meme nuit que nous s'arrete pour s'acheter une biere au magasin juste la. Et hop, direction la frontiere ou il nous deposera a la station de bus et fera meme le traducteur pour le bus qui nous emmenera a Riga.

I got to Kaunas yesterday. Had booked a room in a guest apartment through Litinterp, a B&amp;B/apartments agency, so I went to their office and got taken to an apartment right in the middle of the old town. Great location, nice apartment. There's an old dear there who doesnt speak english but babbles away quite happily in Lithuanian shows me how to use the shower etc and all is well so i dump my stuff and head out to see the sights........jump to further down ...

Saturday the 13th of May. Siauliai and the hill of Crosses. There was a huge choice of buses but as usual I wasn't sure which was going which days so turned up early and hoped to get on one. It had been a noisy night at times as my window faced onto the main street. I tried to get on one bus but the driver wouldn't let me.
