A tourists delight
We left Riva to head for Kaunas, with its magnificent castle, Town Hall and hot air ballooning in abundance.
No screens due to a strained "V" finger from previous flights so suffice it to say we are in Kaunas, Lithuania.

South to Latvia
Well on a cold snowy day we loaded up VPCNI for another push into a frozen Europe.
Due to a slight cockup VPCNI had inadvertently been painted by two Irish painters , Padrig and Fnbar during the night in one of their alcohol induced dazes. Dey had painted it in Cathay Pacific colours so we had to go with that until we could do a repaint in Latvia (perhaps).

Rocking Riga!
A three hour bus ride from Vilnius took us to Riga, the meat in the Baltic states' sandwich.The weather was looking a but rubbish but we only had two full days to spend in Riga so we had to try and fit in as much as possible. We jumped on the hostel's free walking tour which we were soon regretting (a little bit) as a mini blizzard blew in. Little did we know this was likely to be the most snow we would see throughout our trip. I'm adding to this now while we're in Romania ...
Visting Vilnius
Day 1...
arrived late afternoon with only a couple of hours of daylight left thanks to yet another timezone change! We checked into our hostel and headed out for a bite to eat. Tom tried a traditional Lithuanian dish: finely diced/mashed potato fried in an intestine. Delicious!... or not quite so. It was rather oil drenched and poor Thomas couldn't manage past halfway. Right after the breakfast in the "Ambassador" hotel I left Vilnius. At the very end I saw once more that black-haired girl who was just arriving at work around the time when I was leaving and that was all.
