... their next leg in Fidenza towards the end of July. Well, I arrived in the town at roughly the same time and we ended up in the same accommodation at the end of their first day walking. She was soon in action again, as she persuaded the custodian of the parroachial house to let me stay even though all four beds had been taken. Mother, daughter and I have walked together the past three days, which has been quite enjoyable, even if it has slowed me down a bit.

Francesco ordered 2 dishes for us to share - tortelli (Italian dumplings) and a traditional dish called pisarei e faso. The tortelli were filled with spinach and ricotta mix. The pasta was so fine that you could see the green of the filling through the yellow pasta sheet. And they are folded together like a little plait down the spine. ... ourselves smell less human, we head out for an apperitivo at a friend's bar. The Bicicletta (prosecco and campari) goes down amazingly well and Francesco gets his first copa of the trip - copa and all the other cured pork products have been haunting his dreams since we booked the tickets. We follow it up with lunch at a local pizzeria and end with caffe and a Cavallo (small glass of Montenegro).
