      ... around town I was able to join the lagoon bioluminescence tour which is a tour in which we went out on a boat to a huge fresh water lagoon and the bioluminescence shrimp light up when they get scared. We jumped into the water and thrashed around and watched little stars appear everywhere. although it wasn't the best time of the year it was still pretty awesome.       ... up for the baby turtle release, I didn't realise that I'd be releasing them myself. Ten of us loaded up into the truck and headed down to a nearby beach and met the turtle man and five plastic bowls full of baby turtles. The turtle man is a local who lives at the beach, he collects the eggs when they're laid and places them in a fenced off hatching area, to protect them from natural predators.       Puerto Escondido is about an hour up the road from Mazunte. We reached it using a collectivo and 2nd class bus (local routes). It was slightly challenging waiting for the bus in the middle of nowhere with no idea of the bus schedule but as with most other challenging events there was nothing really to be concerned about.
