... walk around Puerto Escondido instead. We walked back down towards the bus station and then veered off to the right and found ourselves on touristy street. Lots of cafe's and surfer shops, internet spots and stalls selling trinkets. We got on to the beach which was full of boats and not half as nice looking as our little cove from yesterday. We were inundated with guys trying to sell us fishing trips to catch tuna. We kept walking and soon ...
Puerto Escondido, Pacific Coast, Mexico doireann_brian... though the lagoon is fresh water. Posy was happy - she got to go. Another evening we went out to a preserve where they incubate and then release a variety of sea turtles back to the ocean. We got to actually help release about 70 baby sea turtles. It was sooooo special and amazing - to let these little critters that fit in the palm of your hand go into the immensity of the ocean! Mexico has a great program going all along the coast down here. I thought the little buggers just ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico putmbak... size it has a “laid-back” ambiance
- it has a great geographical setting nestled on bays and sandy beaches and low mountains
- it is a wonderful place to linger and just soak up the atmosphere
- it is very international with a nice mix of European visitors
- the wonderful “winter” weather
- the beautiful smooth sandy beaches are a pleasure to walk if nothing else
- it is the antithesis of the big resort ...
... arms. Seconds later, the turtle was pulled up onto our boat! Then they put the turtle back in the water for Stacy and I to swim with it. So much fun! After a few days in PE, we are definitely ready for a new town and looking forward to Oaxaca town tomorrow.

Puerto Escondido, Mexico chadroy... boarding and made holy shows of ourself in front of all the surfy, sun-kissed G.H.Y.s. Baldwin, Brad and Todd etc w**e not ov**ly impressed with our extra especial ability to get snotted on the waves and come up a good bit lat** with half of the beach on our heads. Went fishing with Armando ( El Capitan mas fina de Pu**to Escondido ). This was great craic wh**e we got to see Turtles spooning ( it´s their mating season ) and the highlight was when I reeled in ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico lydsandemmet... to give us a mini-tour. He took us to buy watermelon where I got a bunch of mangoes for free because there are so many that they can't get rid of them and don't eat them... (no way!!!) anyways, he also took us to see some iguanas or something (random) and to a point that is a great lookout over Puerto and has some religious memorials. Wednesday - We went to learn about how they educate people on the Patio Limpio program. We ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico shef11308... and had some fun in the waves. Islie did her typical hammock nap and Mommy went and caught a few waves too. Actually, I caught the best wave of my life. I stood up and finally got to feel what it felt like to surf. That was until someone from behind me took me out. I ended up even bleeding a bit but the thrill was worth the "silly flesh wound". We met another ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico kaiandheather... theres so many great people from all over, its a wierd mix but its cool, some people are here for months in the same hostel, others just a few days. I think me and Calum are going to stay here until Sunday or Monday and then go onto Oaxaca. Feeling a little bit jaded today, the bus journey and Friday night in Escondido took it out of me a bit - it is 50p for a beer so not too pricey, basically the only traffic we met on the way here (apart from the traffic jam ...
Puerto Escondido, Mexico guyandcalum... claimed by surfing magazines for some years now, is a surfer's paradise (forget the Gold Coast, head to Mexico). It is, as yet, relatively undeveloped (as far as that phrase can be carried into any tropical region in the twenty-first century) and the waves are simply irresistible. It is renowned - worldwide - for its frequent drownings, but with the number of old American couples and young French people, this isn't so surprising. The lifeguards are ...
