... grotto. Nothing like a statute of the BVM with water coming out of the mountain to draw us Catholics out from every nook and cranny. The herd of goats that usually blocks Paul's entry into churches was nowhere to be found here.....so maybe it's a good sign. Don't send a Catholic jihad after me, now, just making light of a fun time!

... bar. Here, they had my favorite drink, Batida de Coco. I had it straight on the rocks and I was very happy. We made our way back to the Corazon for more drinks. Conrad & Hector had some red & blue concoction made of red rum (REDRUM) and blue curacao. I had a "Pink Panther". Don't have a clue what was in it, but it was good. We made our way back to Hector's and went to sleep at 1:30 am. Long day.
Avilés, Asturias, Spain and Canary Islands thematts... the mountains following the river Cares. Although it is only possible to see the river occasional due to it being too far below the path it is possible to hear it. The walk is about 24 kilometers there and back. Approx 16 miles. We have never been on such a spectacular walk. The path clings to the cliff face hundreds of meters above the gorge and burrows through solid rock. It is very difficult to describe adequately.
Tomorrow 2 10 09 we move on.

Oviedo, Asturias, Spain and Canary Islands mispasosleti... I always rave about.
The cutest, sweetest, most petite little brunette you could imagine ... a little shy, very reserved, and with those indescribable Spanish mannerisms (something I've dubbed "Spannerisms") that make you weak in the knees. An infectious smile always on her face, one that radiates outwards from her eyes and lights up the room (the Spanish seem to have mastered the art of smiling with their ...

Oviedo, Asturias, Spain and Canary Islands antoniusestrill... despite thinking he can add an 'o' to the end of any word and make it Spanish! After lunch we drove to Playa de Santa Maria. It´s a beautiful, long beach and it was devoid of people. Mind you, it was siesta time (1:00) at this point so shutters covered pretty much all the apartment windows. It was like the Spaniards knew the LeQuesne´s were in town so they all went into hiding! There were lots of cars everywhere, but no people. It makes ...
Gijón, Asturias, Spain lindalequesne... lifted my spirits, which were worn out after such a hot day. So this is what the pilgrims who first see the Wailing Wall, the muddy waters of the Ganges or the Sanctuaries of Lourdes feel. The stadium was plastered in the red and white stripes of Gijón and the pounding drums of the faithful behind the northern end echoed around the ground. The chants for the local team were filled with the promise of a new season. The first year ...
