... to the ancient city of Apollonia, which was a major port city in antiquity with a harbor large enough for 100 ships. An earthquake in the 3rd century AD changed the path of a river, which caused the harbor to silt up become inaccessible. We enjoy lunch on a hill overlooking the site and then scramble around the ruins and the museum.

I also need to mention the Albanian national drink - Raki. This spirit comes in a shot glass although it is customary to sip it not shot it and feels like it scortches your insides! Although it does actually kind of grow on you. The strength of the drink varies depending on how you acquire it, it seems everyone and their grandmothers make it! Everybody you meet seems to have some in an unmarked plastic bottle and it can be up to 80%!! Lethal!
... me during my life time at resisting being ticklish has finally paid off. There was a small restaurant near the start of the trail that lead to the waterfall. The restaurant was selling €1.50 lamb head soup. Lamb head includes chunky pieces of brain, eyes, tongue and cheek. Nathan bravely (or foolishly) decided he would give it a try. Lorenc is a passionate man, as I suspect most Albanians also are - perhaps it's what makes this country so intriguing, the fact that people are so passionate about everything they do, and everything they believe in. In Lorenc, you see a jaded man who is struggling with the pace of change in Albania, of the ever-so-slow rise to democracy - though Communism fell in the early 90s, it seems that not all that much has really changed here. ...
