... to the ancient city of Apollonia, which was a major port city in antiquity with a harbor large enough for 100 ships. An earthquake in the 3rd century AD changed the path of a river, which caused the harbor to silt up become inaccessible. We enjoy lunch on a hill overlooking the site and then scramble around the ruins and the museum.

Our final destination today is Vlora, the city that flourished when Apollonia declined in ...

Hello We spent a few days in Tirana the capital, it was fun. Super hot so we were slow moving, but ate yummy food and had a good time. We spent one of the days going to Pëllumbas to see the 380m cave. With the help of many locals we managed to get the bus to the Pëllumbas village where the locals then pointed us in the direction of the cave. We aren't silly people, getting places in Albania is a slow and tricky process! We had a lovely hike ...

... past the Old Town towards our hostel, we took a slight detour up a narrow path towards St. Michael's Chapel, which was perched halfway up the hillside Berat Castle was on. The chapel turned out to be closed but we did get some good views of the Gorica Quarter from there.

Back down the hill and crossing over a stone bridge (apparently the first bridge built over the River Osum), we headed back to the hostel, where the staff had cooked spaghetti for everyone. Over dinner, ...

... engine, the driver was able to get the bus going again - hooray!

Shortly after that, we were making a slow-speed left turn and of course, the bus stalled AGAIN, but this time in a far worse position, in the middle of a busy intersection. Once again, locals jumped out of the car and pushed the bus off to the side, while the driver once again monkeyed around with the engine and fired it up once more - hooray!

Overjoyed at our driver's work with a ...
