After all my travels throughout the world this beautiful place on lago di garda is without much doubt the most spiritual place I have found. It has a wonderful light and feeling to it. The calming lake and the imposing surrounding mountains give it an other worldy feel I have not encountered before. The small town of Salo' is the most authentic ...

The month of illness and dog attacks

... already been sick most of the time I've been in Italy, but still. I watched the ceremony on TV, and it was beautiful. They had a choir singing and I got emotional, even though I'm not Catholic anymore. It still was really touching, and I'm still very disappointed I didn't get to go see him. And here's a fun thing that happened-I got bit by a dog! I went on a walk one of the nice days (it's been foggy for a couple weeks now), playing music on my ipod, and ...

Verona

... I think the oldest building I've ever been in - it was built in 30 AD (that's a 2 digit year, not a typo)

Castelvechio was also pretty cool and had some great art inside.

Stopped at Osteria Verona in the main square for some predinner drinks and had some awesome house wine before going to La Taverna Di Via Stella for dinner. Really nice place with friendly staff and great food. Had ...

... of undying love to each other. Makes for quite a sight really. There were nice markets there and a sort of mini colosseum which is still used today for concerts.

There was also a statue of Juliet which is meant to bring you good luck if you rub her right breast. Her right breast is very polished!

Jumped back on the coach to the next stop!

O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?

... were very tasty though. But luckily their moustaches were all burnt off!

Venezia was the same, just alot windier, colder and more wet.

We went on to Verona, and wow! Verona is the most beautiful town I had seen in Italy (at this point). I cannot describe what it was about the place, it was just, so different to anywhere else. It had ...

Venice for a day

... toilet. We took the obligatory photos at the Rialto then just planned to walk towards a different section of the Grand Canal, but ended up just wandering through the back streets soaking up the atmosphere. There were tourists everywhere we went and of course shops selling Murano Glass and other souvenirs- I don’t know how they all survive. We ended up losing our way constantly until we got the Grand Canal opposite the ...

Love Verona!

... and Tara went into the toilet and found it was one in the ground that you had to squat over so she refused to go.

We then went to have gelati and search the old city for toilets and found some near the tower which everyone refused to climb as they said they have climbed enough towers. They also refused to go into a church as well. We decided to have lunch before we went to the Roman ruins north of the river. These included a small amphitheatre and lots of ...

Arriving in Peschiera del Garda station the heat is remarkable, We sit on a bench under a tree waiting for the taxi to arrive. Nothing turns up for 45mins! we speak to the local newsagents and it turns out we have to call for one, turns up 15mins later and we arrive at the family camping resort San Benedetto. The only place to pitch a tent is next to the campsite playing field on ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE

... no accomodation and had to go to beg at Tourist Info for whatever room they could find! Well, we werent happy but the only room available for the original plan of two nights was 70 euros a night! Well over our budget but...oh well, she did say we had access to a kitchen. She didn't tell us how ever that it was our own apartment, 5 mins from centre and 2 mins from the lake, oh and it was the poshest, classiest pad we have ever seen with a dish washer, two balconies (one ...
