Parma's dogs...... Nearly as important as Parma's violets!

Today we slept through the first alarm....well Joy turned it off and snuggled back down into the very comfy bed......so the net result was we started our tour of the galleries a little late. But it really didn't matter.
The Galleria Nazionale of Parma is in the Palazzo Pilotta - an expanse of building and grass with colonnades and trees about 5 minutes walk from our hotel. Of course the gallery is on the 2nd floor so there is an expanse of stairs to climb, even ...
Today was the day to visit Parma's main art gallery, and, as it turned out, the day that Joy found herself nose to nose with a drawing painted by Leonardo da Vinci. She knew that it was in the gallery but thought it would be behind armoured security glass and so on. Oh no, she was quite literally nose to nose with a da Vinci - for the second time on this trip - so she was understandably on an artisitic high when she finally emerged from the gallery. ...
... are not sure we would have enjoyed working for him but there was no doubt about his passion and dedication to the cars and racing.
Aside from the display hall there was the original workshop of Ferrari that contained a replica of the first official car built, some influences from Enzo's early career and about half a dozen other Ferraris.
It was a little disappointing to see so few Ferraris but this museum is about the life of Enzo.
