This morning was an early start (6 AM) to catch the TGV train to Geneva. We had to take the metro to Paris Lyon, where we bought lunch for on the train, and then caught it to Switzerland. It was a bit slower than the Eurostar and took around 4:30. Otherwise it all went smoothly though. Once in Geneva, we caught the tram to CERN, the end of the line, and were slowly transferred ...

Woke up to another beautiful day. Hotel Pavillon had been excellent and a great place to relax for the night. Dinner was a 5 course meal with great wine to celebrate harriet's birthday. See the picture from our room window. It is going to be very difficult leaving here to get on the path again. Such a quaint and modern town. At the top we ate lunch looking out over the beautiful view. Next, we started ...

Only miles away from the Swiss border, we thought some research might be in order since some English people we had met the day before said they don't go there because of the tolls. While it should be possible to avoid the national roads, all their other fines for misdemeanours (like being 1km over the speed limit), for which they can chase you through the NZ court system, and confiscation of satnavs if they have a speed camera alert on them, just meant it would be ...

... s obviously a for bit of poverty but its also full of interesting little nooks. Anyway, out the other side of the city and heading for the mountains. It wasn't that far so we googled 'things to do on the way' and found a beautiful little medieval town to stop off at. Perouges was built as a replica of Perugia in Italy by some French nobleman returning from the city. On a smaller scale, it had lots of similarities. Spelt differently, they are said the same. There were a couple ...
