        A few weeks ago now , we decided that we needed to seek out the last bit of summer sunshine we exiled ourselves to Italy's version of Rottnest .....Isola d'Elba

        ... kept us going. The local bus got us into town (Portaferrio) for the next day where we wandered, and wandered. We were a bit late to visit the villa where Napoleon Bonaparte was 'imprisoned' but able to have a good sticky beak at the outside. Walked up and around some amazing flights of steps and visited a fort on top. All these places seem to have had brutal pasts and have need of forts, old walls etc ...

        ... another book today ( Weds) - "Burn" by James Patterson? Not bad, but not his best work.
        Since it's now after midnight, that makes it Wednesday 10th, I think.... And I believe that means we have to endure another night here, because we are booked on the ferry back to the mainland on Thursday morning.
