Riu Palace Algarve

We had a good sail to the Algarve. Another bit of chaos with the jennaker which nearly got launched overboard and a poor little tired out bird which hitched a ride for many miles keeping us amused. The coast line is absolutely fantastic... Rainbow of colours. I thought Dorset pretty spectacular but this comes a close second. Met up with a couple we knew from ...

... food! It was an alternative place, reminding me of the Gili islands in Indonesia; similar beachy vibe to Lagos i guess. It was all outdoor wooden seating; with fruit displays on the tables and around the cafe almost anywhere it would fit. After all the heavy tapas of Spain I was soooo excited to have a salad and fruit juice for lunch!

We started the week with a sleep in after a Sunday late night geocaching session. After checking out of our hotel we headed back into Seville for breakfast & some more geocaching. Unfortunately nowhere we found to eat had an English menu or English speaking staff until we made it further into the city around midday (we ...

That being said, I wouldn't change a thing. Everything always works out in the end and a little homesickness just means I have a heart for those I love.
And now, more about Portugal. What an amazing place! At one time the Europeans thought that the Western most tip of Portugal (also the most Western part of Europe) was the ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Riu Palace Algarve Albufeira
We (Husband, 2 teenage boys and myself) Have just returned from a lovely relaxing week at the Rui Algrave it was our first time in a Rui hotel and wont be the last. Rooms were lovely and big we paid extra for a sea view well worth it. Food really nice our flight was delayed on arrival so we were too late for the late sitting in the resturant so had to eat in the Portugese resturant not too impressed stick to the main resturants if you can. The outside pool was rather on the cold side so wasnt used very much the indoor one is lovely along with the steam room and juzzui only problem there was alot of young children in there with no adult supervision.
Arrived at hotel 19june 2006for one wk my husband and our two teenage daughters. We were greeted with some bubbly and very courteous staff.we booked seaview rooms next to each other, we were on the side of hotel but view from balcony was superb. The room was first class biggest bed weve ever seen.only downfall no tea coffee facilities but we had a mini bar which was not that expensive. pool area beautiful ,waiters to get drinks so you need not move food also available. Breakfast room was lovely all you could eat very varied so need not starve. evening meal in same room but you are greeted by staff as you walk in once again very varied excellent food every day. building work at front of hotel but we didnt find it a problem not much noise .there are a few bars in town a short walk from hotel people very friendly one in particular was called california bar run by a man called antonious who was lovely, made you very welcome. if you want a relaxing break this is the hotel to go to nothing is to much for the staff and location lovely not to commercialized. plus from there you can go to villamora and albefiera not expensive either .This is definately a hotel we will return to
Me gusto bastante buen servicio

Without a doubt one of the best hotels we've stayed in in Europe.......
We stayed at the RIU palace for 1 week with our 8 month old daughter and my parents. We had a lovely holiday and the hotel was fab as expected. The hotel is only 1 year old so everything was very modern and clean. The views from the hotel were beautiful and the nearby beach was long (8km) with beautiful rugged views. Our room was very spacious and we had a cot which was well made up and of a high standard. There was a mini bar in the room which we substituted as a fridge. There are supermarkets nearby but if you are travelling with a baby - come well prepared as we struggled to get any baby jars from anywhere nearby. The staff at the hotel really try to make you welcome and are happy to assist. The restaurant has 2 sittings which works reasonably well and the food was of a high standard, although towards the end of the holiday we were glad to have a meal out in vilamoura - which is definitely worth a visit (10 -12 euros in a taxi). The hotel has another restaurant which you can book at no extra charge but it was relatively dull and the meal portions were small and there wasn't much choice - the staff were trying to promote it whilst we were there so hopefully it may improve.
The Rui Palace Hotel lived upto the brochure 100%. On arrival we had a glass of fiz, fruit juice for the kids while the formalities were compleated. Our room had a glorious view over the coast (steps to beach from nearby Rui Falesia Hotel).
Room large, very clean, plenty of storage. Food (buffet) excellent something for all tastes, including that for a very picky 14 year old. Table service available for no extra charge, drinks billed at end of stay.
Staff very very friendly, we usually holiday in
France, so are used to surly waiters etc.
Christmas program limited, more entertainment provided at Rui Falesia - 300 yards away.
Would recommend, we will visit again.
the hotel is nice lobby nice on arrival they gave us a glass of champagne at check in and in our room we had a bottle of champange and a fruit platter. the staff were very friendlty as they all are in the riu hotels. this is the third one i have been to in total. the beach looked nice from our balcony but the weather was not nice enough to go on the beach as itw as mid october. pool area looked lovely as well. the breakfast was nice variety of foods. the bathroom was really spacious and had bidet in which we liked. overall the hotel is nice but we spent a fortune getting to albufeira as the hotel is quite far from everything!
We have just returned from 7 nights at this hotel. This hotel has recently opened so as you would expect, everything is clean and new. This hotel is an above average 4-star. The rooms are spacious and modern with a good sized bathroom. We booked the hotel through the Riu web site and paid a supplement for a sea view. On arrival, we were given a side sea view and were told there were different standards of sea view, so please bear this in mind when booking. After saying this, the side sea view had a lovely view up the coast.
