... me stay I had purchased them a bottle of local wine in the North, famous for the region. As they do not speak English Ruben helped me to prepare a speech in Spanish which i re-wrote phonetically so that I could pronounce the words correctly, it was quite funny!

... home. Got back and Les couldn't believe we were home so early so got some cash from home and headed back down to the waterfront. Had a couple of drinks at a couple of different bars and people watched. All the black people are out along the footpath with their sheets, selling handbags, t-shirts, braiding hair etc.. We noticed one girl who was selling some bracelets get a bit stressed out and was trying to hurry her customer up, as soon as she paid she whipped all her stuff away ...
... it is just the same. The streets are packed with people drinking and chatting. A large portion of these people are under 18; it's easy to get away with underage drinking at feria. You turn down an alleyway to find a young couple making out. 5 metres away, there is a drunk guy ******* against the wall. By the early afternoon, the streets are lined with filth, **** and rubbish. ...
... actually misleading. It's more of a scramble. We cannot make more then 3 or 4 footsteps without having to negotiate slippery rocks to climb over. The rain from the previous weeks has turned the ground into several inches of sloppy mud. Myself and the other climbers are being selective about our route, climbing up onto the rocks to avoid the quagmire below. Naturally a certain amount of goo cannot be avoided but at least it doesn't go over the top of our trainers. The ...
... br> The luggage got in without a problem and I took the middle back seat, snuggled between Wolfi and the lady from South Hampton. The driver was incredibly entertaining despite the fact that he only knew a handful of English words. Luckily a lot of Spanish words have the same Latin base as in English. He passionately explained how Mercedes were mucho money but useless. His cheap little Peugeot could fit any number of suitcases and passengers, no problemo. He dropped us ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Riu Nautilus Torremolinos
Short winter break
Stayed for 7 days at the nautilus february 2006 excellent hotel staff, very helpful. 75% german clients, food excellent, location very good...unlike some hotels in the area practically right on the beach , will visit again next year i have stayed at rui hotels before & you can't seem to fault them.its the same story if you are prepared to pay that little extra you get good standards.wine in the restaurant is pricey, this hotel will suit the older person in the winter. don't know about the entertainment as their wasn't much in the winter,
Just returned from a weeks break at this hotel. I cannot rate it highly enough. The hotel is spotlessly clean. We had a large comfortable room overlooking the pool and beach, the bathroom had lots of extras, shower gel, shower caps, soaps and bath creams. The food was excellent, breakfast was cooked in front of you every morning with a choice of eggs and bacon, there was fresh fruit, cornflakes, pancakes etc, also fresh smoothies made for those who wanted them. The evening meals were superb, so much to choose from and all cooked to perfection. The hotel is in an ideal location near to the Marina and its night life but far enough away not to be disturbed. The evening entertainment was standard with Spanish dancers etc not for those who like it lively. But as I say the Marina is a short stroll away with as much nightlife as you want!.
6 females celebrating a 50th birthday. From arrival until departure we couldn't find any fault with the service, accommodation and food.
Everything was excellent, cuisine was one of the best we've experienced in a Spanish hotel and the staff couldn't do enough.
The only comment we could make was the entertainment. There was one night of good quality but the rest not worth bothering with. We didn't really mind as there were lots of bars and shops nearby.
The pool area is in an excellent location just by the beach and part of the restaurant is outdoors surrounded by banana trees.
We would all definitely visit again next year.
I arrived with my husband and son looking forward to my holiday only to report to reception and be told there was no room available for us. We were rather shocked to say the least and explained to the concierge that we had a confirmed booking, but he was not interested and just kept repeating they were overbooked and could not offer us a room at their hotel. We asked if we could stay in another Riu Hotel in the area (we asked about the Belplaya) but was told the same they were all booked up and our only alternative was to stay in the Hotel Costa Lagos in Torremolinos. We reluctantly took a taxi to the hotel where they offered us a room with only two beds, we explained there were three of us and they showed us another room with two beds, also this hotel was not up to a Riu Hotel standard and was shabby in comparison. By this time I was getting a bit upset and telephoned the company who booked my hotel. They managed to get us in to the Riu Belplaya which the Nautilius had said was fully booked. We spent our week at the Belplaya and although we were well looked after and the food and rooms of a good standard it was not the holiday we had booked. I am disgusted with the way we were treated and have lost confidence in booking with a Riu Hotel again. My advice would be to stand your ground and not move, phone the company who booked your holiday and take a brochure with you to make sure if you do accept another hotel you are happy with the choice.
We visited in April 2005 - for a second time. Our room was great (even though in the basement - our room overlooked the hotel's very green and leafy garden) the hotel was absolutely spotless, the food very good whatever your taste. The hotel had entertainment every night - not the best standard but it did make us laugh! The guests at the hotel were mixed, some with small children, others were older, but then it was early April and out of school holidays. No groups of teenagers, but then this is not the type of hotel for them. Guests came from all over Europe and the USA.
We stayed at Riu Nautilus for one week in March 05. We were travelling with our daughter who is nearly 2. We were by far the youngest people in the hotel, but this wasn't a problem as everyone was very friendly. Our daughter got so much attention, particularly in the restaurant, it was lovely.
Make sure you are not in basement
The hotel was nice but overbooked after booking six months in advance,We were given a room in the basement so you didnt know if it was raining or sunshine till you got outside,A lot of unhappy people in the basement,The rep said it is worst in Summer and we went in January. The hotel is more for the older end of the scale than a middle of the road age group. This is a German hotel TiU group.
Having just returned from the Riu Nautilus I felt I had to write a review and I am afraid it is not good.
We went here for our honeymoon for 1 week. The location is perfect....right by the beach. A 1 minute walk to the beach. The hotel is definitely a 4 star. the staff was pleasant too. They forgot our wake-up call one day and after getting a little upset at them, they offered us pastries & coffee at the hotel cafe which was nice. The room was better than I had expected according to European Standards. The view from the room was gorgeous...mountains w/ villas in the distance. It was very romantic walking on the path at night. The path stretches all along the beach and there are many bars/restaurants along the walk way.
The Nautilus is a very nice hotel. The staff was great, the breakfast buffet incredible, and you are right on the beach. Most all rooms have a view of the Mediterranean, except maybe on the zero floor. We were on floor 1 and somewhat upset for security reasons. But after having laundry blow off the balcony and not being able to retrieve it, we realized the grounds were really safe. (The staff did get our laundry back for us.) I only had two very minor issues with this hotel.
