After a whistle stop tour of what felt like most of Turkey, we decided to have a few days off from sightseeing and go and sit on the beach. So we hopped on a bus and headed to Bulgaria where we planned to do not very much just north of Varna on the Black Sea coast. It was on the way to Romania (our next stop), so nice and handy.

I feel slightly bad for Bulgaria in that we didn't see much of it, didn't really learn an awful ...

We woke up this morning to a gale force wind, dark low clouds and spitting rain. We almost turned over and went back to sleep. But here we were so we packed the wet weather kit and headed for the BlackSeaRama Golf course. It was incredibly windy, probably the strongest winds I have ever played in but it did make it interesting.... and in fact it didn't rain at all and did warm up but the wind made it a cool day; good ...

... me to play golf in Oman two years ago, amazing coincidence! We were very pleased to see him and had a drink with him afterwards. The course itself was a bit dull, Charlie kept putting his balls into bunkers and getting cross; I relaxed and enjoyed the wild flowers and did rather well.

Dinner overlooking the Black Sea under an equally black sky (looking stormy again) completed a great day.

... greens etc. Charlie had a fun time, lost a few balls in the sea but found a lot while searching for his own in the meadows of flowers. It was a great and memorable day of golf.

Went to Balchik for supper tonight. Nice little sea side town with a string of restaurants along the harbour wall. We eat a nice meal while watching the amazing lightning storms which we have been seeing ...

Sozopol looked so peaceful in the setting sun of early evening as we set off to find some supper. There was an amazing thunderstorm all around us as we ate dinner over looking the pretty harbour of Sozopol old town. As we made our way back at about 9.30 the beach side bars were all lit up but there were very few customers to enjoy the music. A hotel a few blocks away had a live band but again there were hardly any people. So as we went to bed about ...
