... Then up the funicular to the mountain overlooking Como, not happy with view at that height we decide to walk up to the lighthouse. Snow covered following last weeks cold blast we make our way up - a long way - finally arriving at 'the lighthouse'. The view was spectacular, well the view as best it can be here with quite dense haze/smog. We could see the water but sadly the Swiss Alps, whilst could be seen, were blurry. (Switzerland is ...

      Sparkling Lights in Lugano

We arrived in this beautiful city at dusk so we weren't able to get the most out of it. Stayed there only for one hour and we spent that time in Parco Civico capturing the flickering lights of the city surrounded by mountains. The view from the shores of Lake Lugano was fascinating. It's truly a must-visit city and I'd love to go back and see it in broad daylight. ...

Despite the guys trying to sell you stuff it was great strolling around the piazza once again and we pretty much spent the whole day around. We also went to the Castello Sforzesco wich reminded me a lot of Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome. The guy in the entrance of the park playing Pink Floyd was the finishing touch.   We continued our day ...

... way up, and the technology (considering how old it is) is fascinating.

After the Funicolare ride, we took one final stroll through the city centre, then walked back to the apartment. We’re heading out of Como and into the mountains tomorrow, so after dinner (we ate in tonight) we spent some time packing up and getting ready for our journey out of Italy and into the Alps. It will be a whole new adventure tomorrow!

      Too Much Fun

      ... kids in the car.

On the way back through, we stopped in Lugano to pick up the kids' hats and mittens, which I had left to dry on the radiator in the hotel room and forgotten to pick up. The hotel had them and was able to get them right away! We also stopped at the grocery store for a few cheesy and chocolaty treats to take home.

The drive back to Malpensa was quick and easy on the motorway, without a surface road diversion over ...
