    ... the lovely pool before bed.

    TUESDAY: We had a fantastic day and really enjoyed our visit to Lake Como. It was definitely worth the drive and effort! What a truly beautiful place.

    We set out early at 8.30 in the hope to beat the heat and get a car park near the funicular railway that takes you up a very steep gradient to lovely views at the top. We had a nice time wandering around at the top and David was very taken with an old old hotel ...

    ... areas are so poor, they report and pay no tax! Just when one thinks there are no more steps we have scored the top floor in a room the closest to the train station - like arm out the window and one can almost touch the train at the station.
