      ... Day. It is a public holiday in Italy today, Remembrance Day, so lots will be closed. Had breakfast and took the advice of Vittorio the owner and headed to the town of Gubbio. He said it had an old town and interesting architecture. He also told of a man and his relationship with an evil wolf and it is legend in the town, saw statues of it everywhere.       ... to the Vecchio Castle across the river and guess it was to house the military as one building was definitely stables. Crossed back over the river to the old side and found a cafe for lunch. Had to wait till 1.30pm for the castle museum to open so wandered around the grounds. Castle is surrounded by a moat and entry is via a drawbridge. There were also the murder holes we had seen in UK castles. Castle was built in 1354 as a fortress though one corner was later used as a residence ...
