... 5 hours to go. The train splits when we cross over into Sicily, so we have to ensure we're in the right half of the train, which currently I don't think we are. The best thing about travelling is that your problems are no longer about life, but about gritty things, like how do I get food in this country? or in our case now, am I on the right train? Having these basic problems in your day gives you plenty of time to look over the rest of your life, and write odd ended blogs like this ...

The interior has gorgeous paintings, statues and stained glass domes. The rooms are furnished with antique looking furniture and marble floors and fixtures in the bath. Very beautiful and ornate, but maybe a bit hoity toity for my taste. Gorgeous indoor and outdoor pools and ...

... prettiest parts of the world. We decided to spend our first day exploring the beaches along coastal Maratea.

The next several hours were spent driving through deliciously curvy and narrow streets, discovering hidden coves and beaches and marveling at the beaches uniquely made up of tiny, rounded pebbles that gave the feeling of having a foot massage as you walked along sinking into the pebbles. Of course Linda was prepared to go for a swim in ...

Off To the South of Italy!

... us further south to our destination Maratea in Posetano. Momentarily, we had a couple of doubts until we realized that A30 and A3 were one and the same....whew!

As we continued south, we began to encounter increasingly higher hills with heavy vegitation. Another 30 kms down the road and he freeway began to go through the mountainous terrain rather than around them. We counted 28 fairly lengthy tunnels on our journey south. By the time we were 50 kms south of Naples, we ...
