... One of the waiters had a long chat to us about up the history of Venice. I was impressed with the depth of his knowledge and his command of the English language. Dinner was served promptly and enjoyed by both. Seeing that it was our last night in Italy, I selected the pizza. I find Italian pizzas bland. The crust was thin and crispy - very nice, but the toppings of fresh tomato sauce, cheese and in my case ham are thrown ...

... a well, although we did see many of them in squares around the place. Electricity and gas is available. Given the smell of the canals there is a bit of an issue with sewage...... I love Venezia and could stay there a couple of weeks. We loved just wandering around the streets and hopping on the Vaporetto to see where it would take us. It's like a maze but as long as you end up at the Grand Canal you can find your way back. The only negative would be the expense. ... a typical Italian type dinner in a small square and as usual it was quite small and much smaller than John expected, as he wasn’t full after eating it. He will sort things out as only John can.

We also went on a Gondola near the Rialto Bridge at a cost of 25 Euro’s each for 45 minutes and it was very peaceful going through the back canals in the dark. We passed many little Restaurants over the canals so we were only about 1.5 ...

... unique experience as tourists don't usually use this mode of cheap 'pedestrian' transport. Traghetti are gondola ferries that cross the Grand Canal from one side to the other. The crossing is so short you stand up in the gondola. The ferry crossing may be cheap for locals at 70c but they charge tourists 2 euros. It really annoys me when there is one cost for locals and another for tourists. ...
