They also brought us up some tea and kit-kats – just what you need after a day's hike! Unfortunately Nat forgot and over-stewed the tea so it tasted awful, but the kit-kats were still good!

The path I took wound through the countryside, took you through small towns, alongside orange groves and along a lot of roads. This walk would be more fun with more countryside, but this is a crowded place. People are friendly on the route and can be identified by their white tops and walking sticks with bells on. We had thought that there would be 2 really big, deep whirlpools under the bridge, however it is actually more like lots of little whirlpools which all twist and turn into one another. It was still a pretty impressive sight though.

After seeing the whirlpools we made a mad dash to get the next train to Takumatsu only to find that on the way we had an hour stop at ...

... see 'Dogma' or 'Clerks' or any other movie they're in. One never speaks. One never shut the hell up! And these two towns men were just like that. On top of everything Japanese elderly Jay phoned his wife who came up the mountain in her car with more food, beer and sake. Sacred henro hut turned into party hut. And I found a Mukade (poisonous centipede) hovering above my backpack. Typical. I fell asleep early (surprise!) but woke up by heavy crying. Young henro guy was sobbing his ...
