Apparently June 9th is a statutory holiday here, although I couldn't find anything about it in the guidebooks or online originally. It turns out that June 8 & 9th are Catholic holidays. Who knew? Not realizing this, we headed out for a walking tour in the morning, noticing how quiet it was....
