... on the tourist loop bus our first stop was to the mausoleum of the first feudal lord of Sendai-Han. The remains of Date Masamune are in the Zuihoden. It was destroyed by the air raids during WWII but was rebuilt in the late '70s. On the same site are also two more mausoleums for the next two feudal lords which are also beautiful but had to be rebuilt. A true highlight of any japanese experience is Zao Onsen, a ski resort town about 45 minutes East of Yamagata.
Came here a bit by chance and was very lucky indeed. This town is so charming, lots of little lodges and restaurants, it's pretty, clean and surrounded by mountains, ski slopes and lakes. ... the way so the trains weren't working anymore, we had to wait for a bus and then the bus left us at another train station and finally we got where we needed to be. Total time by local train: 13hours.
Collapsed once i arrived in the hotel that had a shower, which i hadn't had for two days (lol) and passed out.
