... be built any higher than the Acropolis. I have to confess that I'd never really understood the difference between the Acropolis and Parthenon but the guide explained it very simply. 'Acro' means high and 'polis' means city which is exactly what it is. A collection of buildings, with the Parthenon being the most prominent, which sit on top of a very high hill...simple really.

... at the base of the Acropolis. Dinner was very good but you have to be careful here where the bring things like bread or bottled water and charge you for them even if you did not ask/want them. My Souvlaki was very good and so was the Sangria! We made it home by 10pm just when the rest of Athens was heading out on the town. ... like a dance with high kicks and flourishes. We can't leave Athens without a little about the food. The breakfast buffet at the hotels is not the hard roll and coffee I remembered from years ago. Greek yogurt and honey as well as preserved spiced fruits are an option but also barley rusks with feta and fresh tomatoes .....we may go into withdrawal when we return to the US and do not have feta cheese twice a day. ... at 4:15. I hate flying!! The kids are great and sleep most of the flight. The flight is half empty and we’re able to lay across multiple seats. CAIRO, EGYPT We land in Cairo, Egypt, 4 hours later and the contrast couldn’t be greater. Gone are the green rolling hills and forests by the lake of black Africa.
